This is the model of my light project for the Truro Cathedral Project. I plan on using wood in my final piece and using the laser cutter to cut out all the individual holes to sew through.

Truro Cathedral Project.
I am currently doing a project with my University at Truro Cathedral. I am making two lights representing the flowers mentioned in the Bible and the use of light. Flowers are mentioned a few times in the Bible where I am drawing most of my inspiration from the quote ‘I am the Rose of the Sharon and the lilies of the valley’. To me this means that faith and god is all around us in nature. I decided to make lights for this project because I liked the meaning of light being a representation of God and goodness, a pathway through the darkness.
I will be using the laser cutter for this project where I will be sewing through wood to create flower patterns where pinpricks of light will shine through the different coloured threads.

Final cruet sets.
Daffodil and Baby’s breath. Under-glazed then sprayed with clear shiny over the top. (Daffodil has no clear on this picture).
This is my least favourite set, but I decided to do two sets of the Forget-me-not, and the Lilac, so the next set is a lot better.
I think the painting is a lot better on this set as this was my second attempt as the meanings behind the flowers are very important to me.
I am quite pleased with this set, the Lavender and Marigold. I am proud of the painting on the marigold, and the colours came out really nicely with the lavender, though I wonder if I should of placed the Lavender in a different position.
This set is my absolute favourite. I love the vibrancy of the colours on both pots, and am hoping to exhibit these in the level 1 show!
Sunflower and Camellia.
These are my salt and pepper shakers after slip casting into my mold and then de-molding. I used my fettling tools and a sponge to smooth out my shape. I am using the symbolism of flowers and linking them together to form salt and pepper. I hand-made these flowers (lilac and a forget me not) out of rolled slip cast.
The meanings behind the lilac is first love, and the forget me not is true love.
This set is the daffodil and baby’s breath.
The daffodil is March’s flower the month my sister was born, and baby’s breath means innocence and pure heart.
This is the Sunflower and Camellia.
The Sunflower means adoration, and Camellia means longing, perfection, and loveliness.
This is a Marigold and Lavender.
The Marigold means pain and grief, and the Lavender means distrust and caution.
After lathing my model, I made a two part mold. I soft-soaped my model and profile bats 3 times before securing my profile bats half way around my shape. I then made a plaster mix and left it to set, then turned it over once it was set, and took away the profile bats. I cleared the plaster of clay then soft soaped everything again and did another plaster mix. To finish I turned my plaster around again so the bottom of my shape could be seen and soft-soaped my feed. I made a final plaster mix to create my full mold.
